Investment Facilitation and Promotion (WG3), 3rd meeting

The third meeting of the Investment Facilitation and Promotion Working Group was held on the 15th December of 2020 in the conference hall of the Administrative Office of the President.


The meeting was held by the Co-Chairs of the working group, with the participation of the Administrative Office of the President, the Ministry of Finance, the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment, and permanent members, including other public and private sectors.


In the meeting, the priority reforms that were selected to facilitate more investment were discussed, and it was divided into sub-categories and agreed upon by the implementing bodies. At the end of the meeting, the relevant departments were tasked to take the necessary steps to achieve the set goals and implement the reforms, and to report on their work progress in the next meetings of this group.


One of the main issues discussed in this meeting is the new draft of the Private Investment Law. It was decided that this law should be drafted in full coordination between the Investment Facilitation Unit of the Administrative Office of the President and the Ministry of Industry and commerce with the active participation of the relevant bodies. And a detailed report on progress in this area will be presented to the next meeting of the working group. It is worth mentioning that the first meeting on the draft of the Investment Law will be held on Wednesday, December 16, 2020, at the Ministry of Industry and Commerce.


Distinguished Representatives of the First Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, General Directorate of Passports, Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, Chamber of Industries and Mines, National Statistics and Information Office, HARAKAT, Ministry of Urban Development and Lands, Public-Private Partnership, Investment Facilitation Unit, the Ministry of Finance, the Chamber of Commerce and Investment, the Ministry of Economy, the Department of Public-Private Partnership, and the General Directorate of Passports, and Ministry of Interior attended this meeting.
