Focus Areas

Working Group (WG) 1 focuses on facilitating access to finance, developing the insurance sector, improving business processes for registering properties and its pricing, supporting funds development, and enhancing dispute resolution mechanism for the finance sector. WG 1 aims to achieve noticeable results by focusing on the following sub-strategic priorities of Afghanistan’s Private Sector Development National Priority Program (PSD-NPP, 2018-2023):

Strategic Priority 1:

  • Restoring confidence and creating an enabling environment for business
    • Implementing an investment climate reform roadmap

Strategic Priority 2:

  • Increasing access to key inputs for business
    • Increasing access to finance

 

The WG  is also mandated to improve Afghanistan’s ranking on World Bank’s Doing Business Indicators (DBIs) report in the following areas:

  • Getting Credit
  • Registering Property
  • Resolving Insolvency
  • Enforcing Contracts

 

The WG is scheduled to meet twice a month, at least 24 times a year; the meetings are called per the consensus of the minimum two co-chairs of the Working Group. For detailed information about the WG1 mandate, objective, members and scope, download the WG Terms of Reference (ToR).
