The first meeting of the first working group (financial sector development) of the PriSEC Committee was held on Monday, November 23, 2020, under the supervision of Mr. Hasib Feizi, Deputy Minister of Policy and Strategic Affairs, First vice President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Gulkhana Palace.
In this meeting, representatives, and Co-Chairs of the Financial Sector Development Working Group: Ministry of Finance and Afghan Women’s Chamber of Commerce and Industries; Members of this group: General Directorate of Insurance and Takaful Management, Investment Facilitation Unit, Financial Dispute Resolution Commission, Ministry of Economy, Chamber of Commerce and Investment, International Chamber of Commerce, Afghanistan Chamber of Agriculture and Livestock, Afghanistan Federation of Women Professionals, Afghanistan Small Debt Association, Afghan Banks Association, Agricultural Development Fund (ADF), Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (ATRA), Afghanistan Debt Guarantee Fund (ACGF), and the National Statistics and Information Authority.
At First, the term of reference of the first working group, including the duties and responsibilities of the working group and its members, and the goals of the working group, was introduced by the Secretariat of the PriSEC Committee. The PriSEC Committee Secretariat then explained the medium-term and short-term reform programs under the Financial Sector Development Working Group.
The main objectives of the first working group are to facilitate access to financial services, development of the insurance sector, coordination and cooperation in creating and developing various types of funds (housing, agriculture, insurance, retirement, etc.), facilitating the work process Commercial courts in finance, and support the development of alternative financial and financial services (Alternate Finance) throughout the country.
At the end of the meeting, it was decided that in the next meeting, the relevant ministries and departments, in cooperation with the Secretariat of the PriSEC Committee, would prepare plans for the implementation of the reform programs presented by this group and present them in the next meeting.
